Music Therapy

Music Therapy is a research based practise in which music is used to actively support people to improve their health, functioning and well-being. Music therapy can help people of all ages to manage their physical and mental health and enhance their quality of life.

Research has shown that music therapy improves mental health and wellbeing and can help reduce anxiety and stress, regulate moods and energy levels, increase motivation, manage anger and frustration, and assist with managing challenging behaviours.

Research has shown music therapy also improves speech, communication and social skills. It can help improve verbal and non-verbal communication, increase social communication skills, increase social interaction, increase independence and provide positive ways to deal with challenging situations.
